Committee Goals and Objectives

  • 1.

    Achieve Firewise Community Recognition: Ensure that Blackstone meets the criteria and requirements to qualify as a recognized Firewise Community through the National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) Firewise USA program.

  • 2.

    Raise awareness about fire risks and promote fire safety practices within the community.

  • 3.

    Develop and implement strategies for reducing fire hazards, including vegetation management and defensible space guidelines.

  • 4.

    Work with local, regional, and state agencies to align Blackstone’s fire safety efforts with broader initiatives.

  • 5.

    Assist the Board in securing resources for fire mitigation, such as grants or professional services (e.g., foresters or fire safety consultants).

  • 6.

    Ensure the community maintains compliance with the ongoing requirements of the Firewise Community program after recognition is achieved.
